Helmsdale Highland Games 2003 The Chieftains parade
The massed pipe bands and with this years standard
barer and Chieftains prepare for the Chieftains parade. Out side
the Bridge hotel.

Andy Sutherland,
chairman of the games committee, and committee member Iain
Whitehead led the parade from the Bridge Hotel along Dunrobin
Street and up to Couper Park, followed by this year’s
Chieftain, Tommy Traill, and his family, together with former
chieftains and the games committee. |
|
|
|
They were escorted
by the massed pipes and drums of the Wick Royal British Legion
Pipe Band, Sutherland Caledonian Pipe Band, the Kyle of Sutherland
Pipe Band and Caverhill Guardians Pipe Band, a visiting band
from Germany. |

| This year’s standard-bearer
was Sammy Keith (14) who is herself an enthusiastic sportsperson,
being a shinty player and member of a girls’ football
team. |

Vehicles from
the Caithness and Sutherland Vintage Car Club brought up the
rear of the parade. |
