The Highland Games Committee have decided to follow the First Ministers request as the 'Year Of The Homecoming''. That is why they have chosen Rachel and John Polson from Peterculter Aberdeenshire, as their Flag Bearers for this year.Rachel and John were born in Helmsdale, and are part of the well known Polson and Rapson families of the village. They come back to the village several times a year, along with their parents Alasdair and Barbara, to visit their grandparents Donald & Anora Polson, and Nancy Rapson.Rachel enjoys all sports, and is a member of Peterculter Golf Club, playing competitive golf. She also plays Tenor Drum.John is also a member of Peterculter Golf Club, and attends the 47th Aberdeen Boys Brigade, he also plays Piano and Bagpipes. Both are members of the Culter Pipe Band, and they have had the pleasure of playing on stage, with the RED HOT CHILLI PIPERS in Spain in 2008.They are still very much 'Helmies' And we are absolutely delighted that they have agreed to be our Flag Bearers for the Year Of The Homecoming.
